An Aging Life Care™ Professional is a consultant and advocate for our clients as well as families who are caring for older relatives or disabled adults. We have advanced degrees and are experienced in areas such as counseling, nursing, social work, public health or psychology with a specialized focus on issues related to mental health, special needs and the aging process.
The Aging Life Care™ Professional (previously known as a geriatric care manager) has extensive knowledge about the costs, quality, and availability of resources in our community. An Aging Life Care™ Professional is a member of the Aging Life Care™ Association (ALCA) and differ from “self-proclaimed” patient advocates, senior advisors, senior navigators, and eldercare managers. ALCA members must meet stringent criteria including higher education, extensive work experience, continuing education, and certification requirements of the association. All ALCA members as well as my team members are required to adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Lory Smeltzer, MPH, CMC, CDP , Owner/Administrator
Lory Smeltzer is the founder and primary owner of Advanced Senior Solutions, Inc., established in Aug. 2000. She earned the designation of “Advanced Member” from the Aging Life Care Association™ and is a Certified Professional Life Care Manager and a Certified Dementia Practitioner. After receiving an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, Lory received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of South Florida. Lory has lived in Pinellas county since 1978 and she has over 25 years of experience working in Mental Health Case Management as a Baker Act Liaison and in Medical Social Services for the Baycare Hospital system. Lory is a member of the Area Agency on Aging, Better Living for Seniors, and the Guardian Association and she’s actively involved in several local charities. She presents on numerous professional speaking topics throughout the community and is an instructor at St. Petersburg College. Lory has a grown daughter and a grand-daughter. She’s married to Russ Jackson and together they have a teenage son. In Lory’s limited spare time, you can find her tending to her garden or working on home improvements.
Russ Jackson, BS, Owner/Financial Officer
Russ Jackson is the co-founder of Advanced Senior Solutions, Inc. and is Lory’s husband. Russ received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Wyoming with an emphasis in communications. After numerous years’ of experience in sales and marketing in the home security and medical alert system industry here in our local community, Russ created SafetyWatch® Medical Alert Systems in 2006 in order to offer the best in products, monitoring and services to his clients across the nation. Russ has several roles as joint owner of Advanced Senior Solutions, although his primary focus is information technology and also working jointly with our CPA on accounting and finance. Russ enjoys sports of all kinds, especially the Broncos.
Linda Deyo, BSW, MPA, LSW, Life Care Manager / Daily Money Manager
Linda is a Licensed Social Worker with over 30 years’ experience as a Case Manager / Social Worker interfacing with a variety of clients and families. She has excellent communication skills, rapport building and leadership skills. She has expertise in assessment and care plan development with the aged, mental health and special needs clients. Linda also specializes in Placement/Relocation and is a Daily Money Manager. For the past 15 years, Linda has focused her career on Medical Case Management within the hospice care setting. She has extensive knowledge of hospice programs, and concerns families may have at end of life. She developed a Transition’s program for clients ‘not yet ready for hospice care and collaborated with a nursing students’ internship program which educated students on end of life care. Linda can address sensitive issues in a caring and emphatic manner yet works effectively and efficiently. Linda’s formal education also includes a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Linda is most proud of her 2 daughters, and 2 granddaughters. In her free time, you will find Linda enjoying sports, walking her dog, nature, cooking and travel.
Gail Burdick, LPN, Nurse Care Manager
Gail Burdick has over 40 years of experience in nursing including Spinal Cord Injury, Assisted Living Director of Nursing, and Care Management. As a Nurse Care Manager with Advanced Senior Solutions since 2008, Gail assists clients and their families with the multi-facets of the Health Care industry. Gail performs nursing assessments, medication management, and acts as a physician liaison between client and the responsible party. She is a strong patient advocate overseeing the care of our clients whether they are in their home, assisted living, hospital, rehab or nursing center. Gail has the keen ability to think outside the box in finding creative solutions to problems. She lives in Indian Rocks Beach and has been married for 36 years with a grown son, daughter, and grandson.
Gaye Pollino, BA, Life Care Manager / Daily Money Manager
Gaye Pollino came to Advanced Senior Solutions in 2012 with a long, varied background in caregiving, daily money management, hospice and care scheduling management. Gaye received her Associates Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling from Trinity College. Her prior experience includes certified nursing assistant, patient care tech and Hospice Bereavement support volunteer. All of these disciplines has allowed Gaye to bring a full scope of care management services to our clients. Gaye is skilled in assessing needs and creating a plans of care. With her counseling degree, she’s an expert in client/family mediation and she helps to educate and guide family members in dealing with the difficult aspects of caregiving. Her caring, compassionate spirit is evident in how she assists clients and also in her community involvement.
Anabelle Locsin, EdD, RN, LNC, Nurse Care Manager
Anabelle earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing and a Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration from Silliman University in the Philippines. Her nursing career began in New York in 1985 where she worked for Hebrew Home of the Aged; from there her range of nursing experience involved hospitals, home health care, nursing homes and as an Asst. Professor in Colleges of Nursing. When she relocated to Florida she worked with the Vice President of Nursing doing special projects, staff and community education and served as an Instructor for USF student nurses performing their clinical rotation. She has been a Director of Nursing since 1997 and more recently was Chief Nursing Officer at Menorah Manor where she worked for almost 12 years. She has completed training as a LTC Risk Manager, AANAC certified, Legal Nurse Consultant and training with NYU for the NICHE program. She has received numerous awards including Florida Nurse of the Year and RN of the Year. Anabelle is currently a Nurse Care manager with Advanced Senior Solutions as she wants to continue being involved in managing and overseeing the care of our disabled and elderly population and helping them and their families have a better quality of life.
Gretchen Tregaskis, BA Government Benefits Consultant
Gretchen Tregaskis earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Columbia College, MO. When she retired from the U.S. Navy she worked as a Case Manager for the Medicaid programs in Jacksonville, FL. She was active with the Florida Council on Aging where she learned more about our State Legislature and advocating for elder care. Gretchen has been a certified care manager for over a decade and has worked for Advanced Senior Solutions since 2004. Gretchen recently retired and is now a government benefits consultant for Advanced Senior Solutions. Gretchen lives in Pinellas Park with her husband Ron and they love to travel.
Lisa Jones, LPN, Nurse Care Manager
Lisa Jones’ natural passion for caregiving inspires her career path. As a 30 year nursing veteran and a CORE Certified assisted living administrator with a deficiency-free survey history, Lisa consistently displays genuine compassion while improving the quality of life for our aging and disabled population. With a diversified background in healthcare, Lisa has a talent for identifying problems, simplifying procedures and finding innovative solutions. Lisa is able to make complex decisions quickly while carefully evaluating all options. With excellent clinical assessment skills, she is a strong patient advocate, an effective communicator and excels in mediation. Lisa is an active part of the fabric in our community developing strong relationships built on trust and respect. Lisa lives in Dunedin with family closeby. She likes exploring her creativity through home design and enjoys the Florida lifestyle.
Marne Simpson, RN, Nurse Care Manager
Marne Simpson has been a RN for many years and has a vast array of nursing experience including case management, utilization management, cardiac, medical, surgical, oncology, hospice and skilled nursing. She has been a part-time Nurse Care Manager with Advanced Senior Solutions since 2007. She performs nursing assessments, medication management, advocacy and chronic disease prevention and education. Marne is originally from Ohio but has lived in Florida for many years. She loves to spend time with family, and also loves to cook and be near the water.
Pilar Krawchuk, BSW, Life Care Manager
Pilar Krawchuk graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She’s worked as a Case Manager with government funded programs helping seniors at home maintain placement in the community, and is currently working for the state of Florida performing assessments for those in all types of living situations to help link them with programs and services available in the community. Pilar has been a part-time Care Manager and Daily Money Manager with Advanced Senior Solutions since 2005 and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in government funded programs as well as being a respected resource in our agency. Her knowledge of the various Medicaid programs and their processes and also in helping clients navigate through that system is invaluable.
Tassia Asp, Case Coordinator
Tassia Asp has spent over 25 years working in various areas of customer service, office administration, human resources and sales. Tassia has been with Advanced Senior Solutions for over 3 years as Case Coordinator and is in charge of scheduling the homemaker/companions with our clients and trying to achieve the perfect fit. She maintains our office functions and our client records and keeps everyone updated on compliance. Her qualities being that of patience and empathy in communicating with clients, their family and our staff is truly an asset in helping us to exceed our mission. During Tassia’s spare time she enjoys biking and exploring all that Florida has to offer.
